About Oxford, MS - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!

Oxford, Mississippi serves as the county seat of Lafayette County. This city was founded in 1837 and was named for the British university city in hopes of bringing a state university to the region. In fact, Oxford has been home to the University of Mississippi – or Ole Miss – since 1848, and many of the city’s roughly 24,000 residents attended this school. Younger students are served by two school districts – Oxford and Lafayette County – and there are several private school offerings, as well. Many notable people have called Oxford home throughout the city’s rich history, including William Faulkner, author John Grisham, and NFL quarterback Eli Manning.

Culture is bountiful in Oxford, and there are many attractions and things to do here. Fans of the arts will want to check out The Powerhouse Community Carts Center, Southside Gallery, and the Ford Center for the Performing Arts. Visitors can take a tour through the home of William Faulkner – Rowan Oak – or attend one of the two famous literary conferences held in the city each year. Golf courses are found at the Country Club of Oxford, The Links Oxford, and Ole Miss Golf Course, and other outdoor recreation opportunities include biking or visiting one of the city’s many parks.

Oxford residents can enjoy four distinct seasons throughout the course of the year. Summer weather is hot with the potential for high humidity. Average temperatures in the 90s require that residents have access to a reliable central A/C unit at home to stay safe and comfortable.

Typical of the climate found in northwestern Mississippi, Oxford residents enjoy a mild, short winter season. Average high temperatures at the peak of the season reach about 50 degrees Fahrenheit, but since overnight temps can fall into the 30s or lower, homes still need to be equipped with the right gas or electric furnace. Residents shouldn’t take their heating systems for granted, and regular heating maintenance can make sure these units are ready to work when they are needed the most.
